Sometimes you may want to exclude certain document views from your analytics, such as unusually long sessions or test views that could skew your data. Papermark makes it easy to archive these views while maintaining the ability to restore them later if needed.
Step 1: Locate the view
Navigate to your document's visitor table where all views are listed. Find the specific view you want to archive.
Step 2: Access archive option
Click the three dots (⋮) menu button on the right side of the view entry. This will open a dropdown menu with various actions.
Step 3: Archive the view
Select "Archive View" from the dropdown menu. A confirmation dialog will appear asking you to confirm the action. Click "Archive" to proceed.
What happens when you archive a view?
When you archive a view:
It's removed from your main analytics dashboard
The view won't be included in overall engagement metrics
Your document's average view duration will be recalculated
The view is stored separately in archived views
Restoring archived views
To restore an archived view:
Go to your document's dashboard
Click on "Archived Views" in the filters section
Find the view you want to restore
Click the three dots (⋮) menu
Select "Restore View"
When to archive views?
Consider archiving views when:
A viewer left the document open for an unusually long time
You were testing the document yourself
The view data appears incorrect or broken
You want to exclude internal team views from client-facing analytics
Benefits of view archiving
Clean Analytics: Maintain accurate engagement metrics by excluding outlier data
Reversible: Archived views can always be restored if needed
Better Reporting: Present more accurate data to stakeholders
Data Management: Keep your active views organized and relevant
